Oh I see Painting and cooking is fun, but not taking out the trash cuz there’s maggots in there. LOL
You guys seem to like singing about having fun and chores.
Overall, I also believe i was heavily inspired by an amazing Alice Munro short story I read around the time I was writing this song…
there was this amazing image of a decaying farmhouse that had been used as a hippie commune in the story named “Progress of Love”…
amazing story, amazing writer…
anyway the story prompted those questions: who will cook? who will clean? who will paint the fence?
real freedom takes work lol
also:
in the first verse i make mention of the writer Boccaccio: “Boccaccio i got this brand new idea/Let’s take over this mansion and tell some stories in here!”
I’ve always been fascinated with Boccaccio’s book The Decameron in which he talks about the end of the world and how these survivors try to survive the Black Plague by hiding out in a mansion in the countryside and telling stories…
the introduction of The Decameron is one of the greatest and most frightening things I’ve ever read…you can really imagine just why folks in the 14th Century thought the world was ending…
anywhoo, don’t worry bout all this reading worryin thinkin and shit.
Whoah! Thanks for sharing the story behind the song, Chuck!
Such an interesting story the Decameron is.
We need music like this to bring energy during our daily chores, and shout I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will!
I always love Deep Cotton lyrics. They often take me to a parts of my brain that I knew not existed. Can’t wait to hear the entire project. Keep it up fellas.
Jammin’!

When everyone sings “I WILL” we all WIN.
Great music to go out longboarding while keeping it mellow!
