My hero of the day: Torrero Alvaro Munera

‎”And suddenly, I looked at the bull. He had this innocence that all animals have in their eyes, and he looked at me with this pleading. It was like a cry for justice, deep down inside of me. I describe it as being like a prayer – because if one confesses, it is hoped, that one is forgiven. I felt like the worst shit on earth.”

This photo shows the collapse of Torrero Alvaro Munera, as he realized in the middle of the his last fight… the injustice to the animal. From that day forward he became an opponent of bullfights."

Touched. Beautyful paralyzation of compassion.

Question: if man & bull found compassion for one another without even speaking why can't we, who speak the same language find more compassion for each other...
I ask myself. Prattling in my mind...

  1. It’s a nice story, but sadly it’s not actually true. Alvaro Munera only actually quit when he was gored by a bull and left quadraplegic. This leaves your choice of words “Beautyful paralyzation of compassion”, a touch unfortunate.

  2. There are no words to describe this image. Thank God he sent him the right message in time.

  3. How bull fighting is still legal is WAY beyond me. This shit is almost as disgusting as dog fighting, maybe even more so depending how you look at it.

I’m glad this man finally came to his senses. I wish he could have reached that moment of clarity before he jabbed giant spears into that poor bull’s back.

I truly think people don’t stop and REALLY think about how they are acting. You grow up learning one way of thinking, one way of living, and just go through your life nothing thinking much about it. This doesn’t just go for bull fighting, but life in general: how we as people treat other people, animals and our planet. Our utter lack of respect for what God has given us on this Earth.

If more people had the moment of clarity that this man had, regardless of the sins they committed in the past, moving forward and making the positive changes will make changes in your world. Slowly, those changes in an individuals life will combine to make changes for the entire world.
