“His wife is seriously injured.
She was hit by a car as she swooped low across the road.
He brought her food and tended to her with love and compassion.
He left and returned again with more food, but was shocked to find her dead.
He tried to move her….a rarely-seen effort.
Aware that his mate is dead, he cries with adoring love.
He stood beside her, saddened by her death.
Finally, he stood beside her body with sadness and sorrow.
People cried after seeing these pictures when they were published in the leading newspaper in France.
All copies of the paper were sold out on the day the pictures were released.
And many people think animals don’t have emotions.”

Wow. Taken by this. Perfect shots.
I happened to live this experience many years ago in my bakyard. The male pidgeon was flying from the wall to the ground, near her wife for many hours, making this sound wich sounded like crying. He acted real desperate and sad. We could even stand real near to him and he wouldnt care about our presence. Is this instinct or emotions? Maybe both
Quite interesting. Quite sad.
Remarkable capture and yet so sad. Very touched by these images. Truly. Kudos to the photographer. He is great for capturing this. I wonder afterwards, does the bird go in a state of depression? Does he not eat?
In all my bird watching, I’ve yet to witness anything on this level. Rest in peace, little birdie.
Endearing. I am a strong believer in animals having emotions, and this is just another example that proves so.
Elephant feel and show the most grieving when a fellow member of the herd passes away. The whole herd will surround the dead, trying to nudge it back to life. When they finally realize there is no helping the dead, they stay with the dead for hours and hours, crying out and grieving the loss of their loved one. It’s truly a sight to see. Even if one of their own is injured, the whole herd will slow their walking speed while migrating to allow the injured to keep up. They never leave one of their own behind. They all stick together like a real family does.
All animals have souls. I love it when people start to notice it

And something called human was looking and taking pictures, thinking about impression they make. The newspaper with photos was sold out and something called human was glad and had a steak for lunch. Others were surprised that animals may have emotions as they thought only they, humans have them. They spent a minute thinking about it and came back to eating their steaks.
